THANK GOODNESS THURSDAYS: The Piazza at Schmidts

A sign that used to hang on the brewery where the Piazza now stands was placed along the south side of the project as a reminder of the site’s history.
Ok, so not everyone loves the architectural choices. Also, a tenant in a newer phase of this same project has committed what is to many – including us – an urbanistic faux pas of major proportions. And, most regrettably, this project has had more than its fair share of negative press thanks to a few violent incidents that no one saw coming.
Despite all this, we say a resounding THANK GOODNESS for the Piazza at Schmidts. As with all of our TGT subjects, the exclamation is warranted because what we see today – or don’t see, as the case may be – was no certain thing. It took serious work and difficult conversations to produce our New York Times-lauded neighborhood center in Northern Liberties. READ MORE
